PROP WINE LABELS
(revised 04/12/2021)
WINE LABEL GALLERY – Prop Compendium
The detailed compendium of the Wine Label Gallery is exclusively available to DFCF members as a *.pdf file (aforementioned link).
The compendium includes the prop wine labels in their original size as well as further information, such as the respective bottle(s) used in connection with each label (shape, color, capsule / neck foil and volume). The compendium also features screen captures from scenes in which the prop labels and bottles were used and / or photos of the props from LORIMAR's set dressing and property department plus additional details (such as information on artwork drafts and wine-related terminology).
A watermarked preview of one page of the compendium is available to the general public here. The full version for members does not contain any watermarks.
OVERVIEW
The following short overview is available to the general public.
Note that this overview is not a complete collection of all prop wine labels. Some labels are missing because it was impossible to locate existing prints or templates, e.g. Jason's vintage label from # 015, the Gioberti Private Reserve (compare our Behind the Scenes section for more details on this prop). If you have access to a prop wine label that is not part of this gallery and would like to sell it to the fan club or at least scan it for documentation, please contact the Production Office.
The episodes in which the respective label was used are listed below each label.
Some labels were hardly visible in the episodes since the bottles were placed in the background or (at least) partially out of the camera angle. The use of these props was verified by researching production documents, publicity photos and other secondary sources from the production.
Some labels were not filmed closely enough to identify certain details, such as the grape variety or the vintage. If these details were not given away in dialog, any of the production documents or secondary sources, these labels themselves (i.e. templates in these cases) are presented with blank spaces as far as the respective details are concerned.
If the grape variety is unknown, at least the recognizable general type of wine (such as white wine, red wine or rosé) is listed.
The labels are presented in the following order:
For each wine estate (if necessary, grouped into an estate's various design lines), the grape varieties are grouped into categories in the following order:
– white wines
– red wines
– sparkling wines
Within each of the aforementioned categories, grape varieties are arranged in alphabetical order. Wines from unknown grape varieties are listed under a generic term ("red wine" or "white wine") at the end of each category.
Different wines from the same grape variety are listed in chronological order of their vintages. Wines with the year of the harvest not legible on film or not visible at all as well as non-vintage wines are in the last position.
