Different takes: In the recap, the moment when Maggie starts to feel Curtis' pulse in one of the bedrooms in the Falcon Crest Victorian Mansion is presented in a long shot (screen grab 2) while the scene itself in the previous episode featured that very moment in a close-up of Curtis filmed from behind Maggie's shoulder (screen capture 1).

The recap for the previous episode shows a perspective of the close-up at the entrance of the Falcon Crest Victorian Mansion, which is slightly different from the one featured in the final scene of # 172 (compare Angela's hands, for instance) — it is from one of the other takes of the same scene.

Fictional entity: KTF News is mentioned again — a news channel that was also referenced in # 128.

The KTF News van is an ocher Ford Econoline.

New exteriors of the Tuscany Sheriff's Department are seen. Contrary to the previous building used in # 134, the front of office building 5 on the backlot of CBS-MTM STUDIOS (now RADFORD STUDIO CENTER) is used this episode. It seems to be a county administration building because a sign saying "County Offices" can be seen in the background.
This building will be used as the Tuscany Interstate Bank next season (compare # 187) and several times in season 9 (see # 208 and 225).
LORIMAR's original blueprints of this set and many others are available for DFCF members in the Show – Production Office – Filming Locations – Movie Studios – Exterior Sets section.

Different takes in the sneak preview and the scene itself: When Maggie hands over the Gioberti Winery to Angela, the sneak preview shows a different take (left screen grab) from the one used in the episode. This becomes apparent because Angela uses the word "again" at the end of her sentence about reuniting the two Falcon Crest properties in the preview whereas this word is missing in the scene.

DAVID GUST, the tall, black-haired and mustached uncredited extra, who is best known for his rôle as an assistant district attorney (# 091, 092 and 154), but who also plays different characters in the series, portrays a worker at the Gioberti Winery in this episode — as a few times before.
Compare # 187 for a list of appearances throughout the series.
For details about the extra, compare # 063.

Deleted scene: The director's cut contained an act 1 scene with Lance and Dan in the countryside, watching Lance's falcon — obviously Apollo — soaring across the sky. In friendship, they talk about Carly and her relationship to Angela, who will certainly not corrupt her. Towards the end of the scene, the falcon returns to Lance's fist, and Lance pops the hood on the bird. This scene was removed in post-production.

The Del Oro address can be read on Suzanne's letter to Dan: 2332 Tierra Vista, Tuscany Valley, CA 94557.
Suzanne's address can also be read: 173 Elm Street, Arliss, OK 74281. There is no explanation why she moved to Arliss or if she was there in a hospital for special treatment or whatever. Inside joke: The street number is the same as the episode number!
Prop mistake: The letter has a post mark dated December 16, 1988! But it is February 1988 now (see above), not December!

The scene introducing Frank (Agretti wine cellar door) is shot inside the sound stage — the set designers did a very poor job creating a faint painting supposed to resemble the vineyard and hill in the background.

Original casting plans: The producers wanted to lure CHARLTON HESTON as Angie's new lover, Frank Agretti, into the show. The character was supposed to die after a three-episode guest appearance. HESTON, however, was not pleased with returning to a TV series after the disaster with his unsuccessful short-lived show, "The Colbys", in the previous season. In the end, the Frank Agretti storyline was changed, and Frank became a dear old friend of Angie's. JANE WYMAN wished ROD TAYLOR be cast as Frank Agretti. She liked to call him "Cuddles" on the set. The audience liked ROD TAYLOR so much the producers decided not to kill his character off.

The introduction of Frank Agretti brings along a bunch of inconsistencies in the Agretti family history. Family trees straightening out all the problems are available here.
According to Frank, Melissa is his only relative or next of kin. He completely ignores other relatives. Robin, for example, is also his niece; her father, Philip, his brother. Besides, season 8 will reveal he has an estranged son, Nick.

Labeling name: The first name of the Frank Agretti character is basically a description of his qualities since Frank (Germanic origin) means "free", "honest" and "sincere".

The establishing shots of the Tuscany Valley Airport are from the Van Nuys Airport in this episode and the rest of the season — as they were in # 159.

Mistake: When Vickie and Eric see Maggie and Richard off before flying to the Caribbean, a pilot played by an uncredited extra is heading to the ConWest counter (airline known from # 119) behind them at the airport. From the long shot (screen grab 1), the picture cuts to a close-up of Vickie and Eric for just three seconds before going back to another long shot (screen grab 2) in which the pilot still arrives at the counter although he had almost reached it before already. The segment becomes more inconsistent with the next cut: Although the pilot has arrived at the counter already (screen capture 2), he moves through the frame behind Eric and Vickie again in the subsequent close-up (screen grab 3).
Again, this is the result of the particular close-up filming technique; check # 001 (Chase and Maggie at the Gioberti Family Cemetery) for details.

Product placement: A Pepsi soft drink dispenser is in front of the Tuscany Bus Depot.

For the filming location, refer to # 171.

Suzanne arrives in Tuscany on a coach of the Transway Bus Lines. This entity has been known from # 025, 113, 131 and 171.

All three Transway Bus Lines buses at the bus depot are 1966 GMC PD 4107 ("Buffalo Bus") models.

Different takes: While the sneak preview before the main title featured Maggie dancing limbo on her honeymoon in a long shot (screen capture 1), the scene itself presents that very moment in a close-up (screen grab 2).

Deleted scene: Angela watches Chao-Li, who is obviously upset, watering the plants in the Falcon Crest Victorian Mansion living room. She asks him why he is walking around in a daze, but he hesitates to tell her that he has to travel to China. Their conversation is interrupted by the doorbell: Frank's gift box for Angela is delivered. This scene, which was in the director's cut just before the scene with the gift box on Angela's desk in her study, was removed in post-production.

The filming location for Angie and Frank's walk is a small road behind stage 4 on the backlot of the CBS-MTM STUDIOS (now RADFORD STUDIO CENTER) — close to the heavily filmed bend (compare # 172, for example).

The Caribbean hotel where Maggie and Richard spend their honeymoon is actually the Registry Hotel (nowadays Universal Hilton) in Universal City, CA. This location was used for other purposes in # 116, 121 and 147 (compare there).

Suzanne is staying at the Safari Inn, a motel in Tuscany. The establishing shot is from a real motel by the same name located on West Olive Avenue in Burbank, CA.

The picture next to the window in Suzanne's room at the Safari Inn is the same prop that was on the western wall in the living room of the Gioberti House in season 1 (a screen grab from # 012 on the left) and in Chase's office at the Tuscany County Building later that season (compare # 017). It is even still in the same frame. This prop was also used in at the Tuscany Valley Hospital in Chase's room (compare # 044) and in Vince's room (compare # 054).

The picture behind the couch in Emma's New Globe office is the same prop that was on the wall next to the kitchenette bar in Kit's Del Oro suite in season 6 (a screen grab from # 137 on the left).

The New Globe street address can be read on the envelope Curtis sent to Emma. It is 7438 Yerba Linda, San Francisco, CA 94237. The postal address was shown in # 138 (see there). Prop mistake: The zip code of the street address is not San Francisco, but Sacramento!

The phone number of the Justice Department in Washington, D.C. is (202) 555-1616.

The address of the Justice Department in San Francisco is Union Square, San Francisco, CA 94239 — another prop mistake as the zip code is Sacramento again.

The scene with Lance and Chao-Li doing their workout in the Falcon Crest Victorian Mansion yard is filmed on the lawn behind stage 4 on the backlot of CBS-MTM STUDIOS (now RADFORD STUDIO CENTER), quite close to the lagoon and the Fixx cabin.

Uncredited extra DOUGLAS MAIDA appears as Dave in this episode again — although he is at his place of work again, in the Del Oro lobby, he does not wear his bellboy uniform this time. He is apparently coming in for his shift or just going off duty when he helps Frank after his fall.
Compare # 224 for biographical details about this minor rôle and a list of appearances throughout the series.
For details about the extra, compare # 034.

SHAHRAD VOSSOUGHI (uncredited extra) plays a waiter at The Max again.
Compare # 181 for a list of appearances as an extra throughout the series and # 209 for his speaking rôle as Nick Massoud.

Fictional entity: ConWest (known from # 119) is an airline that offers flights from the Tuscany Valley Airport to close airports in the region using their Tuscany Air Shuttle service.

Fictional entity: Emma's flight tickets are from Transcon (an airline known from # 119, 155, 165 and 171).
The Transcon name was also used beyond "Falcon Crest"; check out the Beyond the Show – Identical Names section for details.

Different takes in the sneak preview and the scene itself: When Lance offers consolation for Melissa, the sneak preview shows an embrace between them (left screen grab), which is missing in the episode.

Product placement: When Richard meets The Thirteen in New York City, Fred ("Grey Suit") pours Dom Perignon Champagne.

The Thirteen's New York City hotel room is actually one of the suites at the Registry Hotel (nowadays Universal Hilton Hotel; see above) in Universal City, CA.

PETER PAUL EASTMAN (uncredited extra) plays a member of The Thirteen in this episode again.
Compare # 221 for a list of appearances throughout the series.
For details about the extra, compare # 021.

Season time frame:
With the information given in # 178 (Angela and Rosemont's meeting will be on 03/18/1988 — see there) and the information gathered from # 170 through 172, the exact dates of the days depicted in the following episodes until # 178 can be concluded:
Three days have gone by since the end of # 172 as the current episode opens on Thursday, 02/25/1988, which can be derived from the fact that Suzanne Fixx arrives in Tuscany on Friday, 02/26/1988. As this episode depicts only three days, it closes on Saturday, 02/27/1988.
