Tentative title: The Visitant.

Season time frame: This episode opens the morning after Sam Gianinni's death (# 074): Chase mentions on the first evening of the current episode Sam was murdered "last night".

The episode originally contained a scene with Sheriff's Captain Phil Warner, Chase and Lance (as a member of the press) in front of the Gianinni Winery watching Sam Gianinni's dead body being taken to forensics.
The character of Phil Warner was never cast and, during the rewriting process, substituted by Sheriff Dan Robbins. The same was the case with scenes originally involving Phil Warner in # 076.
The scene in # 075 with Robbins, Chase and Lance at the Gianinni Winery was actually filmed with JOE LAMBIE. But this scene was deleted from the final version to stay within the one-hour program time frame.

The first scene in the episode's final version (Angela and Lance having breakfast, Emma dropping in) was staged in the Falcon Crest Victorian Mansion dining room in the script. During production, however, ROD PETERSON wanted to change the location to the veranda, but, for unknown reasons, this idea did not materialize in the end, and it remained an interior scene.

In this episode, Emma wears the same blue-white costume jewelry necklace Maggie used to wear in # 047.

The driveway between the Falcon Crest Victorian Mansion and the Winery Building is the real driveway at Spring Mountain. The gift shop is on the left corner of the picture; this building will never gain any importance for the series.

Inconsistency in the license plates on Greg's BMW 633 CSi Coupé: The number 2BLA629 (compare # 074; also visible well in the current episode — see the screen capture in the preceding paragraph) is pressed on a front plate in the new California sunset design on white background. The rear plate, however, is an old blue plate with yellow lettering.

Outdoor and indoor scenes of the ivy-clad Gianinni House are shot for this episode. The establishing exterior shot will also be used for # 079, 080, 081, 083, 084 and 086. Real indoor scenes — no interior sets — are seen in the current episode and will also be featured in # 079 (see there) and 083.
This privately owned residence is located in Hancock Park in Los Angeles. It used to belong to the late philanthropist HOWARD F. AHMANSON, the insurance and savings and loan association founder.

After Sam Gianinni's death, Mary Gianinni tells Jean-Louis (Gustav) she wants to raise their children on the Gianinni lands. Mysterious: Mary's daughter, Connie, appears in # 089, but no other younger children of Mary and Sam will ever be mentioned.

The establishing shot of Tuscany / Italy is stock footage from a film library. It is very similar to the shot featured in # 008 (depcting the town of Lucca). The segment actually shows a totally different town: Spoleto in the province of Perugia / Italy. The shot was filmed from a country road above the town named Strada Provinciale di Monteluco (SP 462), the camera facing in northwestern direction.

Props: Francesca's outdoor wicker furniture set is the same as the one usually used on the veranda and terrace of the Falcon Crest Victorian Mansion (compare the left screen grab from # 073, for example).
For LORIMAR's further use of these wicker chairs, check out the Beyond the Show – Props – Set Dressing – Seating section.

The filming location for Francesca Gioberti's home in Italy was a privately owned home in the Napa Valley, CA. This home will gain more importance from # 099 on because it then will portray Richard Channing's new residence in Tuscany.
On 10/09/2017, the house burnt to the ground in the Napa Atlas Peak Fire, one of many disastrous wildfires in the Napa and Sonoma Valleys.

Although LORIMAR bought some very expensive wardrobe, GINA LOLLOBRIGIDA brought many of her own clothes and shoes from Italy to wear them on the show.

Chase mentions the Gianinni Winery is less than a mile from the Gioberti House. This is also the case in real life: It is only a couple of yards between the winery and the limestone manor house, which is used as the Gioberti House on the show; they are both situated on the Stags' Leap property in the Napa Valley (also compare # 074).

The old bracelet with the name tag Cole got at the hospital after his birth reveals April 25 as his birthday. So he was born on April 25, 1962.
See # 026 for a different prop with a wrong date of birth in that context.

Once again, it becomes obvious in this episode how difficult it is for the make-up department to cover LORENZO LAMAS' tattoos. The "make-up" on his right shoulder and back is slightly lighter than the skin on the rest of his body. Check out # 035 for general information on this problem.

The vintage biplane Cliff Vanderhort is servicing at the Tuscany Valley Airport is a Waco UPF-7. It was built between the late 1920's until 1943.

The historic biplane Cliff Vanderhort is servicing at the Tuscany Valley Airport is a Waco UPF-7. It was built between the late 1920's until 1943.

Prop: The New Globe issue contains an article on the front page with the headline "At 91, Another First" (red mark). Like another article seen in # 072 (compare there), this one will appear in various New Globe issues all over the series (# 086 and 147).
For more information about the use of generic newspaper articles or layouts in other productions, check out the Beyond the Show – Props – Documents section.

From this episode on, old clips of the original location are used as the McKay House again. That makes the confusion perfect (compare # 055).

Selecting SUSAN FRENCH to play Francesca's grandmother seems rather odd because the actress is too young. GINA LOLLOBRIGIDA was born in 1927, SUSAN FRENCH in 1912. As Francesca's age is supposed to be fairly identical with GINA's her grandmother ought to be almost 40 years older than Francesca.

Deleted scene: The director's cut included a scene in act 3 in the KRDC continuity room: Lorraine speaks with Maggie about the New Globe articles about Richard and says she fears the dark characterization might be true. This scene was filmed, but removed in post-production.

The restaurant patio at the Tuscany Valley Inn in the scene with Lorraine and Stephanie is portrayed by the former St. Moritz Restaurant on Ventura Boulevard in Studio City, CA. The restaurant, under new management, is called Firefly nowadays.

Uncredited extra LENNART JAKELL appears in this episode again as the distinguished Tuscany Valley gentleman — this time as a patron at the Tuscany Valley Inn.
Compare # 227 for a list of appearances throughout the series.
For details about the extra, compare # 016.

DAVID GUST, the tall, black-haired and mustached uncredited extra, who will be best remembered for his rôle as an assistant district attorney in # 091, 092 and 154, but who also plays different characters in the series, is a patron on the patio of the Tuscany Valley Inn in this episode. For his second appearance in this episode, see below.

For details about the extra, compare # 032.

Uncredited stand-in GORDON HODGINS appears as an extra again — this time in his usual rôle as a Tuscany Valley gentleman, having lunch at the Tuscany Valley Inn.
Compare # 182 for a list of appearances throughout the series.
For details about GORDON HODGINS, compare # 001.

Product placement: Joseph wears a shirt by OshKosh, a children's brand.

The lake near Kellogue where Lucas' trailer is parked in this and the following episode is actually near Stags' Leap in the Napa Valley; it belongs to what is now Quixote Winery. The same lake will be seen as the bigger lake on the Agretti lands in # 101.

Julia says she escaped through the tunnel under the Spring House. Mysterious: Who died in the fire in the Spring House in # 067? Maybe Jim Parker, the homeless person, who had spent a night there during # 067? But when could he have come back to the Spring House? Also see # 069 for more questions about Julia's "death".

Deleted scene: The director's cut included a scene in act 4 in front of the Falcon Crest Winery Building: Angela provocatively asks Chase if he already contacted Greg because of the suit she filed against him regarding the plane crash. But Chase says he has important things to do and returns to thinning a few vines. This scene was filmed, but removed in post-production.

Uncredited extra KEVIN G. TRACEY appears as the thick-eyebrowed Tuscany Valley gentleman again — this time as a patron at the Tuscany Downs Turf Club.
Compare # 185 for a list of all his appearances throughout the series.
For details about the extra, compare # 001.

Compare # 219 for biographical details about this minor rôle and a list of appearances throughout the series.
For details about the extra, compare # 035.

Richard's nickname for his ex-wife, Stephanie Hoffman, is the "Ice Queen" (like the fairytale).

Uncredited extra NICK STEVENS appears in this episode again as Reuben Corsair — this time as a patron at the Tuscany Downs Turf Club.
Compare # 182 for biographical information about this minor rôle and a list of appearances throughout the series.
For details about the extra, compare # 008.

Compare # 227 for biographical details about this minor rôle and a list of all his appearances throughout the series.
For details about the extra, compare # 001.

Richard tells Stephanie he has known Pamela for a couple of years. As he met her for the first time only in # 041, this is an extremely inaccurate estimation. Only a little over a year has gone by since then.

Mary Gianinni drives a gray 1976 Mercedes-Benz E-Class (type W123).

Uncredited extra DOUGLAS MAIDA appears as Dave in this episode again — as usual, as a Tuscany Downs Turf Club waiter.
Compare # 224 for biographical details about this minor rôle and a list of appearances throughout the series.
For details about the extra, compare # 034.

After his first appearance in this episode (see above), DAVID GUST, the tall, black-haired and mustached uncredited extra, who will be best remembered for his rôle as an assistant district attorney in # 091, 092 and 154, but who also plays different characters in the series, is now at the Turf Club again.
Compare # 187 for a list of appearances throughout the series.
For details about the extra, compare # 063.

Real-life allusion: Angela mentions the United Nations.
