DFCF Meetings with the Stars
 
 
 
September 15, 2007, Tiburon, CA:
HOWARD LAKIN

 

DFCF board members THOMAS J. PUCHER and SASCHA KURZ met with HOWARD LAKIN, the story editor for season 6 and supervising producer and head writer of season 7, at the "Guaymas" restaurant in Tiburon, overlooking the San Francisco Bay.
HOWARD provided them with interesting background information about the two seasons he worked on the show.

September 17, 2007, San Francisco, CA:
KATHRYN BRYAN HAMPTON

 

KATHRYN BRYAN HAMPTON, a Napa Valley extra, who worked on the show in various episodes between seasons 2 and 7 (probably best remembered as Carlo Agretti's party escort in # 020), kindly invited the DFCF board members to lunch at "Trader Vic's" in San Francisco.
KATHY provided the fan club with many photographs she took on location when the show was filming in the Wine Country.

September 19, 2007, Ojai, CA:
JOHN BENNETT PERRY

 

JOHN BENNETT PERRY, who played Sheriff Floyd Gilmore in seasons 5 and 6, gave the DFCF board members an interview at the "Ojai Coffee Roastery Co." in Ojai.

September 20, 2007, Studio City, CA:
EARL HAMNER

 

As always, it was a pleasure to meet series creator EARL HAMNER, the decade-long friend of the fan club, who is as busy working on his writing as ever.
THOMAS J. PUCHER and SASCHA KURZ enjoyed having lunch with EARL at a very nice restaurant on Ventura Boulevard and sit and talk for a while. Generous as always, EARL kindly provided the DFCF board members with wonderful pictures from the show and a great portrait of the late JANE WYMAN.

September 21, 2007, North Hollywood, CA:
SUSAN SULLIVAN

 

SUSAN SULLIVAN (Maggie Pershing Hartford Gioberti Channing) kindly invited the DFCF representatives to a rehearsal of her new play at "The Antaeus Company", a theater in NoHo Arts District. The play, ten one-acts entitled "Tonight at Eight-Thirty", will première in late October 2007.
SUSAN, great looking as ever, answered many questions about the show and was happy to hear about the continuing success of "Falcon Crest" all over the world.
JANET MORRIS, a DFCF member, who is friends with SUSAN, THOMAS and SASCHA, had made arrangements for the meeting.

September 22, 2007, Los Angeles, CA:
CHAO-LI CHI

 

CHAO-LI CHI invited the DFCF board members to his tai chi chuan class again. It was a pleasure to see the actor and his lovely wife, GANA, once more and to do the exercises.
Later that day, CHAO-LI and GANA were having lunch with SASCHA and THOMAS at their favorite restaurant, "Mandarin King". They generously donated more than 180 "Falcon Crest" scripts to the DFCF to establish a fan club library.

September 24, 2007, Beverly Hills, CA:
JEFF FREILICH & JOHN SAXON

 

The DFCF board members met with JEFF FREILICH, executive producer of seasons 6 and 7, and JOHN SAXON, who portrayed Tony Cumson in 1981 and between 1986 an 1988, at "The Nosh", a diner in Beverly Hills.
Originally intended as two separate meetings, the first interview took longer than expected, which led to a nice "reunion" of the producer and actor, who had not seen each other in almost 20 years — and turned out to be a fabulous conversation for everybody involved.

DAVID SEHINKOPF

 


THOMAS J. PUCHER made arrangements to meet with DAVID SHEINKOPF (Danny Sharpe from season 9), whom he has known from a previous phone interview.
The fan club board members had lunch with the easy-going and talkative actor at the "Bossa Nova" Restaurant on Sunset Boulevard.

MARY KATE McGEEHAN

 

MARY KATE McGEEHAN (Linda Caproni Gioberti), who the DFCF board members met at the beautiful "Ca' del Sole" restaurant, is an extraordinarily warmhearted and lovely lady. Very beautiful as ever, the talkative actress did not only share her wonderful memories of "Falcon Crest", but also turned the interview into a very pleasant, easy-going and interesting conversation.

September 26, 2007, Valley Village, CA:
JAMIE ROSE

 

"Marie & Cie.", a nice coffee store, was the place to meet with JAMIE ROSE, who played Victoria Gioberti Hogan on "The Vintage Years" and in seasons 1 through 3 of "Falcon Crest".
The talkative actress was great to talk to and shared many secrets about her work on the show with the DFCF representatives.

September 27, 2007, Beverly Hills, CA:
MICHAEL FILERMAN

 

The interview with MICHAEL FILERMAN, who served as executive producer on "Falcon Crest" for parts of season 1 and in season 8, took place at "Jerry's Famous Deli" in Beverly Hills.
The DFCF board members got a very interesting insight in MIKE's vision of the series — and were surprised to hear that he regretted the changes he brought to the show in the 1988-89 season.

HARRY HARRIS

 

EARL HAMNER had arranged for SASCHA KURZ and THOMAS J. PUCHER to meet with HARRY HARRIS, who directed the second largest number of episodes of "Falcon Crest" between 1982 and 1987.
The veteran director invited the fan club representatives to his home and shared his memories with them.

MARGARET LADD

 


MARGARET LADD (Emma Channing Cabot St. James) was interviewed at the "Hemisphere", a coffee store in Santa Monica.
The warmhearted and down-to-earth actress was a pleasure to talk to and told about many of her funny memories.

LAURA JOHNSON

 


LAURA JOHNSON (Terry Hartford Ranson Channing), who met with the DFCF board members at the "Aroma Café" in North Hollywood, was a joy to talk to.
Still as beautiful as in the old "Falcon Crest" days, the interview was a pleasant experience in a very cosy atmosphere at the café.

September 28, 2007, Los Angeles, CA:
JOHN APREA

 


DAVID SHEINKOPF made arrangements for the DFCF board members to meet with JOHN APREA (Sheriff Jack North from seasons 6 and 7). The actor invited the fan club representatives to his home for the interview.
The actor had a stroke in May 2007, which left him unable to speak and the right half of his body paralyzed. But he mad amazing progress within the last three months and has almost fully recovered. JOHN is very easy-going and really pleasant to talk to.

September 30, 2007, North Hollywood, CA:
ROBERT F. LYONS

 


JAMIE ROSE put the DFCF members in contact with ROBERT F. LYONS, who guest-starred as Turner Bates, Emma's boyfriend, in season 1.
ROBERT, who is still an actor, but also coaches actors nowadays, met with the DFCF board members at a diner in North Hollywood. He also put the DFCF in contact with WILLIAM R. MOSES for an interview to be done in the near future.

September 30, 2007, Sherman Oaks, CA:
BARBARA PEETERS

 

SCOTT YOUNG, a former LORIMAR staff member and a close friend and member of the DFCF, made arrangements for THOMAS J. PUCHER and SASCHA KURZ to meet with BARBARA PEETERS, who directed various "Falcon Crest" episodes in 1984 and 1985.
The meeting with the warmhearted, talkative and funny lady took place at "Stanley's", a café on Ventura Boulevard. BARBARA was a just a joy to talk to.
